Chives

Chives are part of the onion family - their grass-like stems can be cut to improve the flavour of many dishes.

How To Grow

Chives can be raised from seed sown in March. Space the clumps about 22 cms apart and divide every 3 or 4 years. Water the plants regularly.

How/When To Harvesting

Cut the grassy leaves to within 2 or 3 cms of soil level - never snip off the tips and never leave the flower-heads to open if you want a regular supply of leaves.
